Paris Charles-de-Gaulle Airport

The Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport is located 25 kilometers northeast of Paris. First French airport, it takes its name from the town of Roissy-en-France, which occupies more than half of the territory, and General Charles de Gaulle, who was head of the French government. It is sometimes called "airport Charles de Gaulle", "Roissy", "Paris-Roissy" or "Charles de Gaulle". Operation is provided by Aéroports de Paris.

The airport Charles de Gaulle is a hub for companies such as Air France, FedEx, Europe Airpost, CityJet, Brit Air. CDG is thus the second largest platform connecting Europe, after London Heathrow International Airport, and one of the largest in the world.

The airport Charles de Gaulle is the second in Europe and the sixth in the world by number of passengers with 57.9 million passengers in 2009 (down by 4.9% compared to 60.8 million in 2008 ), behind London Heathrow (66.0 million) and to Frankfurt (50.9 million). It is therefore possible that in the coming years, CDG - which with its four runways operating functions only 73.5% of its capacity - becoming the first European airport. For air traffic movements (takeoffs and landings of aircraft), it was ranked the 1st place in Europe in 2006 with 541,566 movements at Frankfurt (489,406) and London Heathrow (477,029) and eighth in the world behind seven U.S.airports.

As for the volume of cargo, in 2006 it stood first in Europe (2,130,724 tonnes of freight) ahead of Frankfurt (2127646), Amsterdam-Schiphol (1,566,828) and London Heathrow (1,343,930), and seventh in the world. At peak hours, the aircraft must often perform several rotations per level around the airport and wait before landing.

Ground, it is also a steady stream of planes taking off one after the other. Saturation before the announced traffic development projects multiplies. In the world rankings, CDG is the third-ranked airport with the largest number of parking sites for aircraft, with an offer of 235 seats, behind O'Hare International Airport in Chicago KORD-(269) and Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta KATL-(241), both in the United States.

In the world rankings, CDG is the first-ranked airport with the largest number of 210 gates. The airport helps generating 10 percent of the wealth in Ile-de-France and employs 85,000 persons in 700 companies for more than 200 occupations in 11 major sectors. The airport is made of 3 Terminals (9 terminals 2A, 2B, 2C, 2D, 2E, 2F, 2G, T1, T3) connected together by a shuttle.
