L Arc de Triomphe, Champs Elysées and Place de la Concorde

The important arch of 50 meters high and 45 meters wide is located in the middle of the Place de l'Etoile. Its construction began under the direction of architect Chalgrin in 1806. The arch was inaugurated in 1833. It hosts since 11 November 1823 the flame of the unknown soldier that burns in memory of the brave unsung heroes of the First World War.
The beautiful Arc de Triomphe is a wonderful place to admire the Champs-Elysées avenue that runs from the Place de la Concorde to that of the Star. North of the roundabout route by Andre Le Notre, there are live boutiques, popular stores, cinemas, cafes and fast foods to welcome tourists and Paris residents.

Place de la Concorde is known for its Obelisk of Luxor temple gifted by the Viceroy of Egypt in 1831. The monument consists of rose syenite of 23 meters and weighs 230 tons. It is located between the two fountains Hittorf featuring maritime and river navigation. For the transition to the year 2000, a beautiful Ferris wheel was built.
